The hypervideo you are currently viewing is designed as a demonstration of current Advene hypervideo software capabilities (june 2008). It features an analysis of the famous Nosferatu movie. Here is the description of the film from the Internet Archive:
Originally released in 1922 as Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie Des Grauens, director F.W. Murnau's chilling and eerie adaption of Stoker's Dracula is a silent masterpiece of terror which to this day is the most striking and frightening portrayal of the legend.
The upper menu guides you through the four parts of this hypervideo. The parts "Discovery of the movie" and "Further analysis" are dedicated to the movie, while the "Technical details" is about the Advene package, and "Do it yourself" proposes to extend the hypervideo.
Before clicking on any item of the menu, you should carefully read the information below.
This hypervideo needs two files to work the way it is intended to:
If you haven't done it yet, download (using right click, Save as) the video file (lasts approximately 64 minutes, was encoded in MPEG4 and weights 219 MB). Other versions (lighter) can be found at the Nosferatu movie page on the Internet Archive. After downloading the video, you should link it to the advene package. To do so, use the advene main window "Select movie file..." button, select the appropriate video file, and save the package. You can click ▶here▶ to check if the movie is launched. If not, check that the path to the video file is set (Edit Package Properties).

Many advene views use image snapshots extracted from the video while it is playing (no image from the video is delivered with the package). If you see that image instead of a snapshot, it means the video has not been played at the timecode of the image that was needed. The image will be available once you have played the movie at the right timecode.
Note that the extraction of a snapshot (as well as the movie navigation) can lack precision due to the limitations of the player. Also note that when closing the Advene package, you will be proposed to save the snapshots so as to gain time for the next use.
